EU Best ReMap

HPDP is representing Malta in the EU Joint Action BestReMap between 2020 and 2023.  This project is focused on promoting the well-being and health of children through an evidence-based approach to addressing crucial issues in their food choices.

Children’s preference for food starts from an early age.  Exposure to unhealthy food choices will affect dietary eating behaviour later on in life.   If this attitude is not addressed, it will lead to poor health outcomes.  Factors that affect the onset of obesity are obesogenic environment including inappropriate advertising, the availability and access of food being high in sugar, salt and saturated fats.

The project focuses on ways to reduce the onset of childhood obesity by working on areas of food reformulation and processed food monitoring, food marketing best practices and public procurement of foods in public settings, such as kindergartens, schools and hospitals.
