Health Promotion and Chronic Diseases Unit
The Health Promotion & Chronic Diseases Unit (HPCDU) is the entity within the Ministry for Health dedicated to preventing disease and promoting health especially by focusing on chronic noncommunicable diseases, healthy behaviours, the stages of life, and mental health and well being.
Our efforts are aimed at both the population level and personal services. Knowledge and skills training are given related to behaviours such as unhealthy diet, physical inactivity, tobacco use, and alcohol misuse. Population campaigns aim to educate members of the general public about the importance of adopting healthy lifestyles to prevent or manage chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, cancer, respiratory and musculoskeletal conditions.
