When to seek Emergency Services:
• Chest pain or signs of a heart attack (CALL 112)
• Signs of a stroke like slurred speech and a droop on one side of the face (CALL 112)
• Serious allergic reactions (anaphylaxis) (CALL 112)
• Breathing difficulties like severed shortness of breath, difficulty speaking, or other symptoms that are not relieved by over-the-counter medication
• Loss of consciousness or severe disorientation like fainting, seizures, or a state of confusion, especially if this follows a head injury
• Severe injury or trauma like stab wounds, gunshots, severe bleeding that will not stop, severe burns or electrical shocks
• Complications during pregnancy
• Sudden, severe pain anywhere in the body that comes on suddenly and isn’t relieved by over-the-counter medication
When to visit your local Health Centre or GP
• Non-urgent health issues like mild symptoms of common conditions and infections (e.g, colds, flu; cough; fever; common infections of the eye, ear and urinary tract)
• Minor injuries (minor wounds that might require suturing, bruising, burns and scalds)
• Insect and jellyfish bites
• Minor sport injuries (e.g. sprains, pain)
• Routine checkups and treatments of common conditions (e.g. diabetes, hypertension)
